A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words...
For those of you looking for a little extra boost in the performance of your
home's listing, an FSBO Homes Iowa professional can come to your home, take up to 20 quality photos, capture your home’s features on video, professionally produce the video and upload everything to your
home's listing. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a video tour is worth a million. Having video allows people to view your home without actually coming to your home which saves both of you a lot of time.
If you choose to take pictures yourself, you should read through all the tips in this section. Make sure that your home is looking its best so that it has a lasting first impression. You don’t need to have a thousand dollar camera to take a good picture, but quality does matter. You’ll want a camera that takes sharp, clear photos to show your home in its best light. Set your digital camera on the highest possible resolution. After you've selected the best photos possible, upload them to the FSBO Homes Iowa website.
Exterior Photos
Stand in front of your home and make a visual assessment. How do the shades in the front window look? Does it look nicer with the curtains drawn or open? Do your bushes need trimmed? If your flowers aren’t in bloom, it might be a good idea to move them out of view. Mow the lawn and remove any extras that seem to be cluttering the yard
- toys and sports equipment for example. Put the garbage can and recycling bin in the garage and close the door. Along the same lines, your car should be out of view.
Wait for a bright sunny day before pulling out the camera. The best time of day to photograph exterior pictures of your home will depend on which direction it faces. You’ll want the sun behind you, shining on the face of your home. For example, if your home faces East, then take pictures of the front of your house in the morning. If it faces the West, then the best choice is in the evening. The North and South are a little trickier. If your house faces South, a good time of day may be in the afternoon between 1 pm and 4 pm, when the sun is not directly overhead. If your home
faces North, you probably just
need to wait for a bright,
non-sunny day or a sunny day
when the sun happens to be
behind a cloud.

Interior Photos
Most sellers include interior photos of their home. You don’t necessarily need to include photos of every room
in your home, but most often the main rooms like the family room and kitchen and any others with unique characteristics. Make sure that every room you choose to photograph is clean, clutter free and well lit (turn on every light in the house before taking pictures). Don't be in a rush. Take multiple photos from several angles and select the one that best showcases the room. And remember, you’re selling your home, not the things in your home. Your furnishings should be considered props and nothing more. It’s more important to capture the openness of your Great Room than it is your fancy new end tables, if you get the drift.
Flyers for Your Brochure Box
Your FSBO Homes Iowa listing converts into a printable flyer, just click on the "Print a Fyer" link and print away. We recommend printing in color because like anything, it always pays to put your best foot forward
when selling your home. Keeping your Property Sign Flyer Box full will result in more qualified callers because passersby will be able to access all the information they need before they ever pick up the phone to talk with you.
